My first ATC purchase in 10 years netted me two nice M models. '85 200M and '84 125M. The 200M was in the original ad on craigslist and had been up for about a month, so I sent a message asking about it with the intent to see if he was negotiable on the price since it hadn't sold in a months time. I didn't even get that far before he told me about a 125M he'd include for the same price as he was looking to get for just the 200M. Score! Also, these 2 have apparently been together since new owned by the original owner, then the guy I bought them from. Leaves me to be the third owner. Pretty cool. After an 8 hour round trip, I got them home and looked them over closely. The 200M is in incredible shape and is all original. The tires still have the sidewall markings as well as the green stripe running on the treaded area. I'll have to get closer pics after I clean it up to show how nice it really is. The 125M is nice, but was used for hunting so it has a little more wear. I drive this one to work! :D Here's a couple pics before I cleaned them up. They both need the cards rebuilt to be perfect and the 125M pops out of gear sometimes. Great way to come out of hiatus after somewhat losing interest in ATCs for the past decade. BTW, the other ATC is my 83 Big Red which I've had since 2006.

Bikes look good. But is that a GT ranger ? You don't see those up here in the rust belt any more

Nice job! The 200m was one of my first bikes to own and I enjoyed riding it everywhere. We're glad you're sticking around here after the hiatus.

Thanks guys. Yes, the truck is an '88 Ranger GT longbed(hence my screen name) painted in 2008 by a member here. I'm still on the hunt for an all original nice '84 Big Red and would like to get one of the blue 110s. Once cleaned up, the 200M is going in my den as a conversation piece as well as any other original trikes I happen to get. :TrikesOwn

Nice. That 125m popping out of gear is just the shift drum stopper, easy fix.

Yes, good to know the 200M will be saved from abuse. Very nice find indeed on the both of them. Every trike enthusiast should be able to experience the joy of a finding a wicked deal like this!

Yeah, the 200M had a tank full of 2 year old stinky gas in it...hence my wanting to rebuild the carb. It was also pretty muddy underneath before I rinsed it off for the pic, and while I know not all people are into preserving original 3wheelers, I can't help but wonder how someone can take something in such good shape and run it through the mud. Also, the original ad for the 200M was asking $1200. That's what I ended up paying for both the 200M and 125M. Well worth it, IMO.

I love 200Ms, and that one is in really nice shape. The 125 looks pretty clean too.

Here it is all cleaned up. It's not perfect, but is in great shape for being 33 years old. The rear fenders do sag, but an easy fix for that is on the way. Take 2 fender supports from a Big Red or similar and bolt one end to the rear bolt for the grab bar. Angle the other end(with a rubber grommet on so it doesn't scratch the inside of the fender) so it sits flat inside the fender and voila, the fenders will sit perfectly. I'll include a pic of what I'm talking about at the end done on my Big Red. Also will clean up the 125M and put it inside with the 200M. I picked up an 85 110 last week to ride to work. I'm getting the bug again...and I like it. :D

I found this post while searching for the shifting problem on the 125M and I just wanted to say that you have a nice set of bikes man, and well done on the clean up!
What is(are) your secret(s)? I have not really gotten after it like you have. I have been primarily been working towards getting them running and if I can clean something up like the carb and or under the carb I have been cleaning those areas real well. I am using Hondabrite and some Gunk Foamy. I think I gotta get the old toothbrushes after it.

I just picked up a similar duo for a sweetheart deal like yourself but an '84 125M and a '85 250SX. I too had an issue with the 125 shifting but the shift stopper arm boss broke off entirely. Hopefully you got it resolved by now and it was the just the stopper arm.

thanks for sharing these.
