Hey all, I haven't been on here in a while, but have been using my '84 Big Red on the farm pretty regularly. This past Saturday i was pulling a small drag with 1 tire on it in the pasture spreading manure piles and after about 20 minutes it just lost power and died. Eerily just like when I blew the bottom end on my old CRF250R. I tried pull-starting it a few times before the recoil locked up on me. I noticed oil on the rope :(
There was smoke (or steam) coming out of the breather tubes so it is apparent it overheated either from the seize or before it. Is the oil on the recoil rope a good indication that I just toasted something in the bottom end? If so I know it will be very expensive to fix and may just be better off parting it out?

I don't want to part it out unless it will be over $1000 to fix ( I know I will probably have to start disassembling the motor to really find out what's wrong) but if it is the bottom end, what is a realistic figure to repair?
