Never liked how little room there is between the rear fender and latch and wanted something similar to the 350x set up, so I added a 1" solid white plastic spacer between the latch and seat pan. Bought some 6mm bolt extenders to fit the extra length. Came out pretty good. The seat latches tight and no wobble. Also added a set of bark bars. Thoughts?

I like it! Nice work!

What are "Bark bars"? Are they bars with matching/integral hand guards? I like the guards. We do quite a bit of woods riding, branches and limbs can be brutal and can ruin a good manicure ;)

She sure is clean/ Time to find some DIRT!!! The spacer looks fine, hey if u like it and it works good for you. I do think the release rod for the seat should have been an 1"or 2" longer but i can live w/it. Just dont armor-all the seat or you'll be sitting on the tank. Looks like the ass-end sits pretty high though. The tires look good are they 20"'s ?
Using your trashcan lid as a spray bench i see for the seat catch, nice

Yeah the ass end is a little high, not sure what to think. It does have 20's on the back. I weigh about 190lbs, so when I sit on it, it looks more balanced. I'll post up some side pics of it up later. It is clean, took it out a few weeks ago, but I keep it pretty clean. Using the trash can lid spray was being lazy...lol. After the seat catch dried, I hung it up and re-sprayed it outside.

Yep, bought them off eBay, kind of a pain to get right, but they are pretty solid.

My bikes need need a good wash, i have'em outside just waiting for the energy to do it. Gotta check them for mouse nests also (they like the filter area) I'm still finding trikefest mudd in hidden spots, it dries nice and hard.
Changed the oil in the wifes warrior- we use hers to pull the tubes/sleds in the snow. Found the rear carrier bearings are shot. They should change out easily though i hope.
Anyways your bikes look great!!

Yeah, now I'm thinking it sits too high in the back. Dang you Shep..lol. Maybe a half inch would be better or just leave it as is.

My bro and I are pretty anal about keeping them clean. After riding, we wash them down on the trailer in the car wash. The mud here is very clayish and is a pain to get off. That's his 350x and my R, which he pretty much owns now...lol. He's been working on the R and storing it in his garage, plus he put new Cheetas on it all around, so it's technically still mine, but he rides it more.

Hows the dg exhaust? Had it on one of mine for about a day or so. I have to admit when i just cruise around the house i'm helmetless, it was just so loud. There's not to many options out there though. You,ve gotta weld a couple bungs on the header for a heat shield on yours, it gets pretty hot down there. I guess i need to get my butt off the couch---or maybe take a nap (ha)

Edit- cruise w/no helmet=1st gear moving the bikes around or loading

Yep it's loud, too loud really. I've thought about buying a universal supertrapp, but I don't know how to fabricate one to make it work. There's a NOS OE one on eBay the seller is asking $1,200 for...lol. Too much money imo. I initially had a Cobra exhaust on it, thought the DG would be a little quieter, but not really the case.

Nope, just save 200$ - 400$ and buy a nice used SuperTrapp.

OR, a nice TIG welder, a LG Mouth Bass silencer and 1.375/1.500 I.D. pipe should allow you to make a nice setup......

P.S. DG and COBRA are obnoxiously and horribly loudt!! - BUT!!, they do allow mid and top end gains (with a needle rise and larger main jet as well as a bigger pilot jet as well as yanking off your airbox lid), so I'd run them on a track anyday; Roughly jetted close of course....

Shindig, I did the universal on my 350x , I also have no pipe bender or tig welder( or ability to) mid pipe cost me 30$ at my local muffler shop and the tig welding of the muffler bracket cost me 20$ at a local welding shop. Was home by 12 that Saturday. Have the muffler welded first so the muffler shop can bend to it. Sounds and performs great. Better than my dg. Way better. Looks good to imo.

Looks great. Leave it the way it is. With you carcass on it at 190 lbs it will be fine. :) Nice rides. Very clean!!

I never rode anything with barkbusters on it. Nor did I want to add them to my off road stuff. Always had a fear of going over the bars and can't get my hands out fast enough... Snap both wrists... Just a fear. I ride a bunch of single track with some tight tree lines.

Do you have any pics available? My bro might also want to do the same on his 350x. He's running a new DG on it as well. I was lucky when I bought that R, OE muffler was in great shape, just had it ceramic powder coated.

Yeah not sure I like the barkbusters. They were $25, so not a big expense and easy to take off. I ride mostly trails also, and have never banged a hand up, but yeah now that I think about it, I have had to hop off pretty quick a few times when wiping out, I can see your hand getting caught on the inside.

I’ll try and take some up close pics with out the fenders later. Remodeling my living room and downstairs bathroom at the moment. Garage looks like a disaster zone to say the least. I’m running 8 discs and it’s quieter and more powerful than my DG everywhere. I wrapped my header and mid pipe in fiberglass to cover up the old ness and I actually had to go one size up on my main jet from the DG. Very happy with it.

I like that setup Shawn. Did you use your original header pipe? What needs fabricated by a muffler shop?

Thanks,

Thanks,

The header is a DG header I got when I bought that first system. Allegdly they flow better then the oe but who knows. I think an original would be fine. I had the mid pipe made at a local muffler shop. It’s overkill , 16ga stainless, but it’s all they had in 1.75”. They flared it to fit the header (1.5”). And then I had a local fab shop tig weld the bracket onto the SupertrApp. (Bracket comes with muffler) photos

It’s a bit uglier than it looks but that header wrap hides it lol. Flows nice and sounds way better than that horrible DG. I’m only at 8 discs wich is where SupertrApp says should be fine up to 450cc stock. Mines a very mild 350 (.050 over) I have extra discs if I ever wanna play with it or I pony up some money for a big bore kit. But I’ll just keep this for now.
