Question for the 90 guys.

244942244943244944244945244946Picked up a parts machine tonight. Guy said it has a 110 cylinder and a manual clutch? Question is I always thought a 110 was too long to fit in mount without modifying. This is a US90 frame so the front mount does not come off. Also is it possible to convert the auto clutch to a manual? It feels like a clutch when I squeeze the lever. Finally will a standard 110 carb and intake clear or should I be on the lookout for one of those strange bend intakes? Any help is appreciated.

The cylinder is a 90, casting bosses to allow early style foot peg bolts. The main difference between 90 or 110 cylinder is there @ 1/4 inch longer and used a single bolt head stay plate. Plates can be swapped easy enough. Now as for the clutch, that's some red neck engineering, would be interesting as how its connected inside the auto clutch cover. I think the carb set up is just a bolt on.

Ok I will go ahead and throw a 90 carb on it and see if it will run and see what the clutch is all about. I grabbed it for the front tire and rust free tank. It has the early rear axle with a set of converters to use later wheels. Looks like he used 2 tubes of jb weld where the clutch cable enters the case and it uses the right brake lever which will prove a challenge to try and remember which is clutch and which is brake. I think I will swap clutch to the left and brake to the right. The old guy swore he had a bigger bore cylinder he said he couldn't remember if it was a 110 or 125. Is it possible he just bored out the 90 cylinder and used a 110 piston?

Yeah that clutch appears to be smoke and mirrors. Would be interesting to see what is behind the cover.
As Hairy stated definitely a 90 cylinder as far as putting a 110 piston in it you could not do that because of the 90 having a 14mm piston pin and the 110 having a 15mm.
Most in likely just over bored from stock. The 90 or 110 carb set up would just bolt on and go.

Put a carb on this morning and fired it up and that goofy cable going into the case is working as a manual clutch. When pulled in I can rev in gear and no movement. As I let it out clutch engages. One day when I have more time il pop the cover and see what's rigged up inside. Almost afraid to look.

I would think the previous owner would have just looked around for a CL or S90 and swap cases and such... interesting.
