My 225dx needs the top end rebuilt. I found a good TTR225 top end for a good price. Does anyone know if it will fit/work? If it does is it a performance upgrade? I also found a new cylinder and piston from niche industries (part number 1509) as a stock replacement. https://www.amazon.com/Niche-Industries-Tri-Moto-Cylinder-1983-1986/dp/B01LZL04TR. Has anyone heard of this company, I'm not finding many reviews on them. Or should I just bore and rebuild my current cylinder?
Thank you in advance,
Jake.

Just bore you're cylinder. I wouldn't use one of those Chinese kits. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-15A-11110-01-00.html

The TTR cylinder looks to have the same part Number.

yes you can use the ttr stuff and yes it raises compression from 8.8:1 to 9.5:1 and that is a performance upgrade. xt225 topends will also work

Wiseco also sells a 10:1 kit for the YTM225 if you want to pony up the extra cash.

the niche cylinders are actually pretty good just rebuilt a grizzly 660 with one and I am very pleased with it, only down fall is they dont soften the sharp edges and you can cut yourself on them.

Parts crossover is typically as easy as copy pasting the Yamaha part numbers from a fiche side by side on a spreadsheet. When I rebuilt my YTM I would paste discontinued part numbers from the fiche into Google search and many times the part number would come up for a newer vehical, or I would be directed to a site that still had stock.
