I just got my 200X running about 3 weeks ago. I put about 15 hours on the motor ( i installed a new web cam , new valve springs, ported the head and bored it 1mm over) Well one day while riding it the motor just stopped in the middle of accelerating. I thought the worst that I had seized to motor. But after a few kicks it started up but now the top end makes a bunch of noise. I took the top end completely apart and everything looked fine. The noise is like a tickinmg and it speeds up as the motor does. I am thinking it is the cam chain. I there any way to know for sure? Also, how hard is it to replace and since I am going to replace it should I replace the cam chain guides as well?? Thanks All.,..

The ticking is most likely the valve lash not set correctly.

I have checked the valve lash twice and it is set at .002". Will the motor run with a loose cam chain?

Will the motor run with a loose cam chain?Yes..

You might wanna check the camchain to see if it has "jumped" off the lower gear;in some instances, they will run like that, but the chain will be kinda slack...

I have a WEBCAM 89a model in my 200x. The paperwork it came with from WEB says to set the valve lash at .004". I am not saying that is your problem but .002 sounds a little tight.
