I hope someone can help me with a problem I am having with my 1983 Honda 200X 3-wheeler. It just died one day and I could'nt get it started with the kickstarter. However I can hook it to something to pull me and it will drift start, also once it is started it runs perfect but if I cut it off I still can't start it using the kickstarter even if it is warmed up. It is almost like I am not able to turn the engine over quick enough or long enough to get it to start. Also I am not getting a lot of spark out of the plug when I turn it over with the kickstarter. If anyone ahs anykind of info that might help please feel free to give it Thanks

Welcome to the site Robbie. We hope you enjoy it.
For your problem. It is common for the exciter coils to go bad on Honda 185-200cc motors. To check it: If you have a ohm meter check the black with red striped wire coming from the stator. You should get a 215-245 ohm reading for the best results. The lower it reads the harder it will be to start.
If the stator checks bad you can buy a new stator from Honda for $140 or so. Or you can just replace the exciter coil and save over $100.
I keep new exciter coils on hand at all times ( common problem ). If you need one PM or Email or email me for details.
Thanks
Howdy
Robbie: My 200X had the exact same symptom. E-Bay'd a used stator for $35, now I'm ridin' and drinkin' soda. :-D
