after doing some deep water riding on my 1985 big red 250 all of my accessories stopped working -the headlight, starter, tail lights and forward reverse indicator lights. so i hoped it was the main fuse, nope (did notice it has 30 amp fuse instead of 20 tho). then i checked the fuses under the headlight, they're all good too. battery is 12,5 volts so thats not the problem.i know the key switch is ok to as it still runs right now with the kickstarter and i turn it on off with that switch. what else should i look at? maybe cut the wire loom open and inspect?

I would pull apart the switch block, remove any corrosion and apply an electric contact spray. I would clean the contacts and check the operation of your start solenoid, then follow the loom, and check every joiner.

so i just checked and theres 12 volts going to the red wire into the ignition switch but when i turn it to the on position there isn't 12v coming out of any of the other wires.. I'm guessing it'll be the green wire that its supposed to send power to when its in the on position?

think ill order a new ignition they're only $40 new on eBay for an oem part with 2 keys

Since you will have to take the switch out anyway why not remove it and blow-dry it. Don't know about Vancouver but alot of stuff here in Oregon is water soaked and too dang wet to dry out on it's own.

Turned out to be a loose joiner under accessories fuse. Thank for the help!

How sick is it, that I had to go back and look, as all I saw when I looked at the pic the first time were ATC's... Shame on me.... That is breathtaking territory ! You are very blessed ! Dry your keyswitch out by a heat source overnight, and put the WD 40 to it, using the key to just open it up enough to let it get in there good. Work it back and forth good. It may work like new again. If not,you can disassemble these to clean and resolder them.
