Hey Guys finally getting around to posting a build tread for my Team BAPP Replica race bike. :beer
I pretty much had it finished last year but not 100%. I still have a few minor details I would like to complete but it is close enough to share.

I'll start by saying as before the reason I came to 3WW was to gain info and contacts in the 3WW world to help with (4) builds me and my brother wanted to build. In the process we made a lot of friends and have gained a lot of info. As far as the bikes this is the final 90/110 build for us. We've built three from the ground up using all period correct parts to as close to as what they would have looked like back in the day. In searching for parts I ended up with a very special bike from back in the day. The Danny's Machine Works Bike. For the first 10 years Honda had the lock on all three wheelers and the only one made was the 90/110. There were so many aftermarket and high performance parts made for these things the sky was the limit as to what you could do with a stock Honda ATC90/110. After 1980 the chains came off and all of the other major mfg's got into the game and in doing so many other options became available and pretty much left the 90/110 behind.
We grew up riding and racing the 90/110's. I still remember when the first copy of 3Wheeling Magazine hit the stands. I was just a kid and that magazine was like being a kid in a candy store. Problem was we were located in Tennessee and the major players were all on the West Coast in Southern California. We did the best we could with what we had. Fast forward to today and we wanted to build them like we really wanted to back then.

241142241143

I always wanted one of the Team BAPP race bikes. I thought they were so cool. In fact I even painted my 110 in Team BAPP colors early on. I rattle canned it in my bed room with the door closed. Didnt take my parents long to aske me what I was doing spray painting in the house. lol.

This pic is of me and my brother in the summer of 80.

241144

I will start this tread like the others and post pics of the finished bike and then specifics at a later date detailing the engine, chase and other components.
It was build from nearly all NOS and reconditioned period correct parts.

Fantastic work Joseph, that is a piece of art. Great job.

Re the use of the fork boots on the axle, was this something they did back in the day, or is it a touch you have added?. (Wait, I see one on bike 8) your attention to detail is top notch.

That case protector is simple yet effective

I'm guessing the exhaust is loud, hence the name TEAM BAPP

I'm really loving this period work, it really calls back to another time, and gives the ATC90 some relevance. truely inspirational.

Yeah I should have put a question mark at the end of my comment. I meant it as a light hearted joke, not meant to be a statement of fact. Sometimes the typed word doesn't always convey the tone.

Trust you to know what that stood for, I'm guessing you were standing in the car park when they took that picture all those years ago, you old bugger[emoji12]

Any who. Good pickup.

Thanks Guys. Been buys this weekend. Will Post more maybe later this evening. Will Start with the chassis!

Yes it was something they did back in the day. We all ran them. Didnt make you any faster but I guess they looked cool. lol

Awesome thread, stylin in your racing jeans, open face helmets, and t shirts. Your not messing about either, judging by the body English and tyre flex.

That is what's it's all about, what an exciting time that must have been. And what a revolutionary thing the 250r must have been. I I'm guessing it Took the sport in a whole other direction.

But I'm getting a little side tracked. I'm really appreciating the few people out there bringing atc90s back from the past, and reviving this period in our sport. The custom paint jobs, and the trick little additions that were made to these machines back in the day, just awesome.

that's way awesome. im not too familiar with most of the unique racing teams from when these things were new. but I always find it amazing to see stuff like this done to recreate or become a tribute to what they were in their hay day

Friggin top notch bikes, themes, and thread. I'm not at all a 90/110 guy, but these are just fantastic. I love how you guys were there in the moment and have been able to capture that era and bring it to the future for other people to see. Love the springer front end, paint themes, and bell bottoms. I'm all about the Big Moe, always been a fan of gobs of horsepower with the stability of, well, an unsuspended three wheeler, lol! Awesome work Farrow bros and thanks for sharing it on the forum!

Okay here are the specifics on the Chassis.
All of the Team BAPP Bikes used Dickson "Sprint" Frames and front Springers. As noted earlier I built this bike the way I would have built it back in the day if I had unlimited $$$ and resources. With that being said I used a Pauter PJ-1 frame vs the Dickson. The PJ-1 was built by Pauter Machine for the PJ-1 Race Team. Not sure how many of these frames were built but from all accounts there were very few. The frame is several inches longer in the front. At least two inches longer out the back and the motor is four to five inches lower and moved forward. It has a very low center of gravity. Excellent for TT and Flat Track Racing.
241369
I did use the Dickson Springer on the front. I always love the springer front ends. They are simple yet effective suspension. I want to personally Thank JWheeler for donating this piece of the bike. I knew way before I started this build I had to have this piece.
241370241371241372

We'll start at the Front and work our way to the back.

For bars I have Renthal. They were what everyone ran. I used a "CR" Style Clutch Lever and Perch as well as a "CR" style push button kill switch. The twist trottle is a BAPP 1/4 turn.
241373241374

The front Hub is an aftermarket Dickson. The front Wheels are Trick Trike Turbine with a Goodyear 21x11x8 Compass. You had to have a Goodyear knobby for the front. :)
241372241375

I lowered and used cleated pegs. You lowered the pegs so you would have a lower center of gravity.
241376241377

In the back I again used Trick Trike turbines. Tires are Carlisle Turf Savers 18x9.5x8. 3" Rocky Wheel Spacers, Axle Boots.
241378241379241380241381

BAPP Chain Tensioner, BAPP 38T Rear Sprocket and a Precision Engineering Rear Disc Brake using a Hurst Airhart caliper.
241382241383241384241385241386241387241388

Finally the Rear Fenders are Trick Trike LowPro race fenders. The tank is a stock Honda ATC90. The rear seat cover is a Saddleman's. I wanted to have a seat cover made to replicate the Team BAPP covers but I kept running into road blocks. Still haven't given up on that yet.
I used "Sunburst Yellow" for the base and added the other traditional BAPP Logo Colors. I did the paint myself. I did have the 'Blue" pinstripe and text add.

Next installment will be the MOTOR!!!

For the final installment I will detail the Motor.
241588241589

It is over 180cc with a 61.5mm Piston and a 63mm Stroker Crank.
We'll start at the Head and work down.
The head is ported and polished. It has HD S&W Valve Springs with titanium keepers. Lightened Stainless Steel valves. Lightened Rocker Arms.

241597241598241599241600241601
241602241603241604

I am running a BAPP Streaker II cam and a Tri-Cool aftermarket Oil Cooler.

Carb is a 24mm Mikuni with a BAPP "Long" Manifold and a foam Uni Filter. The carb also has a Sudco Pumper Kit.
24161024161124161224161324161424161524161624161724 1618241619241620241621241622241623241624241625

The Cylinder is an Aftermarket Pauter Machine with a 61.5mm Piston. The Piston is a OEM Honda CB750 piston machined down to work in the ATC90 motor. It also uses a 6mm spacer plate to accomodate the ATC110 15mm eye Stroker Crank and brass base gasket.
241626241627241628241629241630241631

Crank is a 63mm Krazy Stroker. It is lightened and reinforced. Check out the comparisons vs a stock crank. The rod is so far out on the fly weights that it is machined down and the center cases had to be machined just so the rod would not hit. Would like to Thank 3WW member Kickstand1 for donating the crank for this build. I have never seen one like this. I bet at high RPM's you can fell it from your hands to your feet. lol
241632241633241634241635241636241637241638241639

Check out the Crank and Piston together. This is how you more than double the displacement of an ATC90!!!
241640241641

Joseph Farrow

The Fly Wheel is lightened. I have a Quick Change Sprocket Assembly and a Manual Clutch set up.
24164224164424164524164624164724164824164924165024 1651241652241653241654241657241659241660

With this much Volume and Compression you have to have the motor vented. I vented the upper valve cover, crank case and clutch side dip stick.
241661241662241663241664241665

It all flows through a Chrome BAPP Stinger Pipe.
241666241667241668

It also has a super trick "no pun intended" Trick Trike Finned Pull Start Cover. Thank you to 3WW member Shortline10 for donating the super rare and hard to find cover! A BAPP pull start handle and a BAPP Mega Recoil Cable to handle all the compression.
241669241670241671241672

Finally the case is protected by a BAPP Chain guard.

I would like to thank everyone who help me with this bike. It is still a work in progress. As I run across things that I think will make it better I will add them to it. Again I built this like I would have back in 1980 if I would have had the resources. It is my take on a Team BAPP bike. It is not 100% correct but close with my own touches.

Joseph, what a great read, and an awesome outcome. I just love how you have remained true to that teenager whose dreams came from a simpler time.

We all had our dream machines, mine was the 87 t3 and I've owned two in my life, but you managed to build yours from scratch which is different. Right down to the last detail and turned your dream machine into reality. (Corvette summer anyone?? [emoji854]) That is what three wheeling is about.

Now all you need is some other like minded souls, with period correct machines, to get out onto a track and rock on....... [emoji848], well maybe not.... 1980 was a long long time ago, and if your anything like me your knees ain't what they used to be [emoji12][emoji12][emoji12]

Ozquad44 you are correct about the "Simpler Times". Its crazy how things change in such a short time. In relation to the grand scheme of things.
My brother and I have plans to take our "Dune" bikes out to the dessert and have one good ride and our "Race" bikes to Pine Lake - Ashtabula OH at least one time. Kinda a Bucket List thing. I raced the Nationals at Pine Lake on a Three Wheeler and a Quad but would love to take my 90 around the track for Old Times Sake.
I've been to Glamis but did not have a bike. I asked myseft then.....what am I doing out here without a Bike. It has to be an awesome thing to ride those dunes. Pic's do not do it justice. It's like the Grand Canyon and Niagra Falls. You have to see them in person to appreciate it.
Thanks again for the compliments and for seeing our vision. :beer

They are a copy of the Trick Trike Low Profile Race fenders. Jeremy (90 Crazy) found a good original set and had a mold made to reproduce them. They are basically the 90 fenders moved down about three inches.

First my brother hooked me up with a super cool and trick SoCal "Blue" Tail Light Lens. :D

Second a board member also hooked me up on something you dont see very often today......
A NOS BAPP tank strap. (Keep and eye out on ebay. I hear there has been a "Mother Load" of super trick BAPP and other aftermarket and Hi Performance items found that should be hitting the market soon!) :naughty:

That tank strap is a missing piece from my pauter I really could use! I've been using a big ol zip tie just for riding around in the yard and all lol. I also have a old school overside hump tank (no clue who makes it) with the dual petcocks but I don't use it because I don't have the strap and it's kinda ugly.

Forgot I had a picture of it floating around on my phone. Plus it's pretty much like a DC plastics orange color haha.

More time than $$$. lol
It took about three years to round up parts. It's like doing a restoration on a car or anything else. You usually end up with way more $$$ in it than it's worth but that's not the reason you do it.
