Picked up this 85 250r with a ESR 310 kit on it. What is the best gas oil mixture to run in it. What kind of power gains over stock will it be. Precautions to take with it. What gear case oil to use. What spark plug to run. See my you tube video of when I picked it up yesterday has parts name and description in video.

-ESR recommends 32:1 using Maxima 927 which I use. Castor oil like Maxima 927 is not recommended for cold temps though
-When set up well, the gains over stock will be significant
-No more precautions needed than any other 2-stroke, but with my 350 kit Eddie recommended coolant mix of 70% water, 30% coolant. The big bores tend to run a bit hotter
-NGK BR9ES.
-I use Valvoline wet clutch safe ATV oil, 10w-40

I would use a br8ecm plug, it is shorter(outside porcelain part). Most of the aftermarket heads have the plug going straight up in the center, it makes it difficult to get plug in and boot on.

Good advice and true about AM heads and not having an angled spark plug hole. I would add that there is more clearance with the '85 chassis but it still doesn't allow easy use of the OEM style spark plug boot. I am using a spark plug boot that would be typically found on a chainsaw or weedeater. It is much smaller and is 90 deg. It allows for easy use of the standard length NGK plugs and I have had zero issues running it. :)

When I bought my 310 kit, the build sheet also recommended race fuel cut with 93 50/50.

It Would be a good idea to compression test it to see if the race fuel is needed, unless previous owner made it clear that premium was ok

He said pump gas was fine. What would the compression numbers be just to be careful
