If i have a 86 Kx250 motor in a Tecate can I swap out the stock stator and flywheel and get a Mooseracing stator for a tecate and a stock tecate flywheel and put that on the KX 250 motor, I have a NOS stator for the Tecate plus NOS coil and wiring harness, would all this become plug and play for me at that point?? Thanks guys

It should work. The 86 KXT and 86 KX use the same basic motor. The stators are different in that the KX has no coil for lights and the rotor may be smaller and lighter, although I am not sure about the latter point. I think Team Green used the KX stator back in the day for more performance.

You may have to modify the harness, you'll have to see what you have. The Tecate will have an extra wire coming out of the stator harness compared to the kx unit.

Actually only Jimmy White used the KX ignition . I and Donnie Luce and Chris White all used the stock KXT ignition and never had an ignition failure.

You should be good to go then. I'd get an encapsulated flywheel from John swinehart, it will probably be cheaper than a moose. If you're going to use the nos stator
