Hello all,

I am looking to purchase a Honda atc350x to round out my collection. What year is better or more desirable - 1985 or 1986?? I like the looks of the '85 with the red fenders. Although I would not pass on a clean OEM 1986. My search continues.... I did come across a mint 100% OEM original '85 250SX (6 hour drive one way) that has me thinking.

Your opinions/comments, please. Thanks in advance. BK3

Presently own:

1968 Corvette L36 427/390HP convertible

the 86 has some changes from the 85. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/125659-What-are-the-differance-between-85-86-honda-350x
IMO as far as more desirability I'd say the 86 with it being the last year and the upgrades from the 85. However if you like the 85 you should get it, you only live once, get what you want!

The 85 250SX sounds nice too!

I have had plenty of both, but I prefer the look of the white 86 with the fender stickers looks incredible...

I have both years. I can't say one is any better than the other when riding. The only differences I can think of that matters is the 86 is less prone to cracked frames and the 86 engines have a little different cam oiling .

Hello atcmatt

I am not a big fan of the color of white but the more I look at pics of the '86 350x - I am starting to like it more and more. The 350x decals on the fenders are an attention getter. Sure would like to see pics of your original 350x - please post them here if you can (other members, too).

Regards.

I wasn't a fan of the white either until I rebuilt this one. The white does allow you to play with the seat and fork boot colors without having clashing colors. Like you said the more I look at it the more I like it.

There is a picture of mine. I do have the original rear fenders and tyres for it but don't run them when I ride, just don't want to ruin them! Long live the 86!

Hello Matt - thanks for posting.

Your '86 350x is absolutely beautiful. I am hooked - I need one now. The white rear fender along with the red headlight bezel and shrouds with blue seat just pops. I just hope I can find an original 350x just like yours. I know what I will be dreaming about tonight.

Cheers.

I had the 85. It was the most difficult to start of any atv or bike that I have ever owned. A friend at that time had the 86. It was better in everyway than my 85 350X. I would say get the 86 and if you like the red plastic then swap it out.

May have been a issue with your 350X. I don't think they came of the showroom floor hard to start. Should be a 1,2 kicker all day long if everything is in good shape.

Good luck on your search...

Just off the phone with the seller - sold within 24 hours of posting. Never asked what it sold for. Wonder if a member from 3WW purchased it. The search goes on.....
