so some years ago my uncle gave me this tank of an ancient arc welder he didn't know anything about it and never used it
if anyone has any information on this welder or can point me in the right direction
but after my buddy rolled my sx with 350x front end damaging the tank I realized I never made a steering stop
so I spliced up a 220A plug for the house ac and wired up the welder

this thing is powerful it burned through 1/4" steel no problem till I dialed it in
I made a stop welded it to the frame and it came out great

I couldn't stop there I haven't had a good headlight since I changed to the 350x front end as the sx one was rigged to the max
so I decided to try my hand at fabrication
I am very pleased at how it turned out
the light is from a cj7 I had years ago this thing is BRIGHT
why 1/4 inch? its what I had laying around

this is my FIRST fab job
all cuts were done with a right angle grinder with a cut off wheel

any info on this welder would be greatly appreciated
ive done a decent amount of digging but have came up with nothing
even what decade its from would be great

Wow that goes down to 25 amps? Cool! I didn't know a stick welder would go down that low. From what I know, the older welders like that are usually way better than the newer ones. I'd hang on to it.

I bet it's 1940s or older. Pretty sweet score!

I was wondering why my lights in Canada were dimming. :)

We sell off some of our electricity. I know why now.

Kidding aside that is a nice old unit.

That's what I was thinking looks like a control panel from something WWII or those Coke machines

I'm happy with it and it is definitely staying with me
The only thing it's missing is the top but years ago someone improvised 240274

Enjoy the welder! One of my favorite quotes is: you can make anything fit with a torch and welder. I would highly suggest reading up all you can on various rod sizes, amperage, and so on.

I agree; 25 Amps to 275A!! That puppy will weld thin steel or a backhoe!!

Hang onto that for sure.....
