If i had a good running dx could i put the reverse out of. Dr on that engine easily ?

To put reverse on a DX motor you have to split the cases and use the left side part of the block, middle drive gear, stator cover, and middle drive cover and run a wire for the reverse light. With that being said, a DR motor will bolt right in.

Yes, you can remove it without taking the motor out.

I just did this swap last August. Maybe it was just an oddity with mine, but I had to use the dr wiring harness with the dr engine. I couldn't get spark with the dx harness. I know that hte only difference is the reverse light, but that's how it happened for me. Yes they were both running beforehand.
