Yamaha 225 dr starter removal

Bought a new starter for the dr...removed the 2 bolts holding the bracket to the engine but cannot get it to move...Tried a screw driver to pry it out of the engine but do not want to break the case...Any tips ?

Take a screwdriver and a hammer and tap on it from the recoil side of the motor.

That's a little odd. Mine came right out. Maybe the seal is really stuck from age.

they do get stuck.. the one on my newest 225 got stuck and I had to hit it with a hammer and a long screwdriver from the other side. use a little WD 40 or something on it too. go easy it will come out.
