I want to try something else other than my stock headlight on my 85 so I'm looking for options. Been looking around the net for different ideas but haven't really found anything. Anyone have pics of their setup? Was thinking of going the led rout. What are your thoughts.

What year?
85-86 pump out a lot of power. 81-84 do not.

Either one I'd slap some LEDs on it and run them AC off the stock stator.
81-84 will need a regulator and probably can't run in conjunction with stock lights. 85 Tecate stator has similar output. I ran a 72W light bar on one.

I run a pair of 18W LEDs in conjunction with a 55/100W bulb on my stock 85 250R. I might add a couple for. I prefer the "spot" pattern lights. I have a spot and flood combo on the R now and the flood just pisses me off.

I hear and tend to agree the AC power is not good for the lights but I'm not converting to DC and I have not cooked a light yet.

The sickest `85 250r i`ve ever seen was out front of Duncan Racing (Lorens i think) it had the Baja lights (chrome cans) in a twin chrome rack with a Mugen cylinder everything chrome and red ...... i can`t find any pics of it ! ......for me the round Baja lights are the only acceptable retro look .....i hate square LED `s ...

True enough but I did like the look on the T3 and I don't think the R is too bad ;)

I followed a guy on a quad arounf Gordon's well with some HIDs. Those were FANTASTIC.

I had Hella 500s on a couple of trikes. They were not my favorite.

You could run a pair of 72W bars on an 85R with no issues.
