238298 Been quite sometime since I've posted on here but I picked up this oem(minus the plastics) 85R a little while ago and not too sure what I want to do with it. Needs a couple minor things here and there but what do you guys figure? Bring it back to fairly original condition or build it? Motor has never been apart and its been sitting for about 20yrs. The guy I got it from rolled it back in the day and parked after that, runs near perfect and even the tires are original but have dry cracking unfortunately. Already have my black R pretty done up so mostly looking for some convincing lol.

I would fix what needs fixing and keep it like it is.

Nice buy. Yeah I would bring it back to its original glory. Doesn't look like it needs much to get there. Good picture of your rides side by side!

Dying for an R in Miami there hard to come by, then you do and they're not in the best condition for top dollar, awesome pick up and definitely keep it original just clean it up

I would start by just getting it serviceable.

Swing arm bolt remove and lube
Brake component check and new fluids.
New fork oil.
Likely a new top end
New cables or lube existing cables.
Front axle remove and lube
Check all bearings/lube.
Air filter
Chain & Sprockets

New tires

LoL!!

By this time you will have found other problems and have a small fortune into the bike.

Nice find Sam, I know how hard it is to find a sport trike in the great white north. Are you and your dad going to make it to TF this year?

I vote for restoring to original. If it were already modified I might go with a custom build but this looks like a very nice candidate for restoration.

x2 - especially if it still has stock pipe.

Mine does and I swear some people have never seen one with a stock pipe.

That and some Cheetah tires (Dunlop/Ohtsu copies) would be great!

I think you should keep it as close to stock as you can. You already have that awesome custom black one. I'd love to have a custom and an original example of the same trikes. Great job. Maybe we'll see you at TrikeFest again.

gonna take your advice on keeping her close to stock and 86T3/Hunting Chip not sure on that! That 32hr straight drive is quite the haul. I might have to talk to him and see what he thinks, maybe he'll chime in cause I'd love to go again!
