Had to replace the stator in my 1985 250ES Big Red. Had one on the shelf, installed it and got her running again but when checking the resistance per the manual between the blk/red wire terminal and ground im getting a reading of 299 ohms. Spec per manual is 50-200.

Anybody ever have a high reading like this and can i cause harm to say the cdi by running it?

On a side note, anyone ever have issues getting a reading from the stator when not installed in the left side cover? While resting in the cover ( where you install it) i can get readings with the tester no problem but if i just lay the stator on the bench i cant get readings, im assuming b/c you have to "ground" through the case itself? Sorry if its a silly question, just havent done much with electronics testing before. thanks
