I bought this 125 motor to put in a 70 frame. The left side cover was leaking oil so I pulled it off to make a new gasket and found metal shavings and wear marks inside the flywheel and around the entire outer surface of the stator. Is there anything I can check on before I call the seller and try to swap this motor for another?

After looking again the pattern of the scars seem to indicate a foreign object got in there. Anyone else?

Can anyone at least tell me if these heat marks on this gear is normal?

the heat marks are normal from factory. when they fused the bushing to the sprocket. the metal shavings are probably from something else in the motor and they got caught up in the magnetic flywheel and stator during a operation. i would say as long as the stator tests ok. then it's still usable. all those shavings are from something else gone wrong in that motor.

the gear looks normal to me, however, the scars look like they are from a bolt that was floating in there at one point in time as long as the engine runs I wouldn't be too concerned I've had whole flywheels explode inside of one of my engines and it did not hurt it bad enough that it doesn't run.
