HI all,,,,Picked this machine up last year...took starter off and gear reduction gears and got it running....it sat all summer and kick started rite up yesterday ...pulled it into the shop and put the gears back in and now I cant get the cover to go on ? I kicked it over a few times but that didn't help....any good ideas ?

Every washer has to be there and in it's place or no go. 85 and 86 87 are vastly different from each other.

How far is it from going on? Like not at all or just won't quite seal up

Are you sure you're putting it together right? I remember it being a little confusing when I put mine back together. I could snap a pic if that would help you.

I have an 85 that had missing teeth on the reduction gear. Found a used one on craigslist, but it was an 86. The 18 tooth gear (small one on the reduction gear) is thicker, fortunately I got the 86 cover with it. It looked like there was just some relief cut into the cover for clearance.

I will get a pic this weekend... I believe I am putting it together correctly if I have the same year gear set ?
