Want to upgrade my carb on my 86 200x, and have seen on here alot about using a 28mm mikuni carb or a honda xr200 one from the 80s. I have seen several 28mm mikunis on ebay, and even some that say they are for xr200s. Just curious if i need to get more specific with my search, and also if it is "plug and play" meaning will work with my stock intake and stock air box. Thanks

A stock 26mm keihin xr200r carburetor is your best option for the 86 200x .
A real mikuni 28mm is a spigot mount and would require a different manifold .
All those so called mikuni 28mm on eBay are china knock offs and crap .

You could probably get your stock 200X carb bored out 2mm. My cousin had that done with one of his dirtbikes. It is a good option because you don't have to mess with cables or anything and jet sizing won't be too much of a hassle. I may take this option if I get an 86 200x. Not sure what stock compression is but if you upped the compression it would work even better!

That 26mm carb and an exhaust will wake it up some.
I dislike Mikunis...They don't respond the same to jetting the same at least for me.
When you wanna go big with cams, springs, bores and such - Then you have a big upgrade possibility....
