Mind the pun, but I'm looking to possibly add a small lightbar to the front of my 250es. What's the stock stator good for? It has a winch which i don't use much, but apart from that it has standard headlight and tailights. What wattage lightbar would suit without straining the battery beyond rechargeable and putting too much load on the stator?
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
For what it's worth, the book specifies the alternator at 200 watts. I don't have any practical experience about what it can really handle, but 200 watts should give you some good options. Note that the factory headlight is spec'ed at 60W/60W (low/high).

Thanks for that Frank. Couldn't find my clymer yesterday. So I should be good to add a couple or a single small light over Christmas. Not sure yet where to mount them but thinking of replacing the bolts that hold the headlight plastic to the cage and put the lights either side there. Cheers.

You could just replace the bulb with a led bulb. There's one on ebay for $24.99. I just typed in atc250es led and came up with this.

The bulb I have in I now is halogen, not like the crappy stocker. I ended up buying a 30watt 7inch LED bar that I will run under the headlight somewhere.
