Some of you might remember the 920 virago i got. needed work to get running yadda yadda bla bla bla.... any ways i got a call about a guy answering my ad on CL said he had Tecate parts. 5 bins ranging from cases, shocks and reservoirs, cylinders, heads, rims, radiator, stock pipe ect... all for $100. good deal ya i know. Guy is an old member here hes building a yamaha 350 twin air cooled 2stroke that was made back in the 80's. i wont go much into detail, ill let him tell y'all the details. So me and him got to talking and he wants to trade my non running virago for a rough running tecate everything works on the tecate but the catch is it runs crappy . should i drop the ball and trade?236787236788

Not sure how nice your non running Virago is, but that 84 Tecate would probably bring $600-$900 around my neck of the woods.
I'd make the trade, but then again, I'm not a fan of Yamaha motorcycles.

Yes, please show us the bike as well.

To "drop the ball" is to let someone down or fail at something. You're looking for "take the plunge" or something along those lines.

I'm not sure how experienced you are with a 250 two-stroke, but just remember if you trade. When that thing hits, it will put you on your head 10 times faster than that 200x.

Here's my advice, never post pictures of a deal you're making before you make it. If I was a mean person and close by, id find this and give the guy the $100 he wants for it. Idk what you have into the virago or what it even is so I can't say if you should trade or not, why don't you just give him a hundo and keep both?

The way I read it is the $100 spare Tecate parts deal is a separate deal (but with same person), than the Virago for Tecate deal.
Either the case, you are exactly right. This is a very good way for someone to swoop in and secretly snatch up a good deal.

If you end up getting the Tecate, I have a green tank you can have for free. Post some pics of your Virago, see if you can find out more about the Tecate.

Did you start it up, take it for a ride?

If you have another bike, I'd make that trade. Otherwise, I'd be on the fence about it. What are the know problems on the bike?

Tecate runs rough. I'm guessing it needs a carb clean and maybe rejetted.

Virago needs needs case bolts and clutch cable hooked up to the clutch. And needs a new starter gear along with carb clean.

Its $400.00 on craigslist. It looks like the price went down $100.00.

If I remember correctly I thought I read your bike dosen't have a title? If he would be willing to trade I would do it.

You still haven't traded? I'd trade in a heartbeat. A running single cylinder two stroke is WAY simpler than a non-running twin cylinder four stroke. Besides I like Kawis better than Yamis.

He wants a title, all I have is a bill of sale. I have yet to get to the dmv office and see how much of a hard time they give me
