I've diagnosed a stalling problem on my 250ES as being the fuel cap not venting (of all things!). This isn't an aftermarket cap - same OEM one as found on practically every other HONDA ATC manufactured in the 80's. Has anyone ever had a problem with these fuel caps not venting? If so, is there a fix???

Sorry, forgot to mention too, yes the cap vent is set to "ON".

They get filled with rust usually which clogs them up. Somewhat common in bikes that have sat for long periods. Never tried cleaning them because new ones are pretty cheap.

I've seen people just drill a small hole through them but I wouldn't recommend It. Maybe soak in apple cider vinegar like we do to remove the rust out of the tanks.

NOS is about $50 and there are used ones for $20 on eBay.

There are videos on Youtube showing how to take them apart and clean them.

Thanks Hurley, you're right, there are a couple good videos which pretty much shows the issue. Looks like these caps do come apart and can be refurbished after all!

Well I learned something new also. Here's a link to disassembly and parts for future people with the same problem.

1/8 drill bit is about 3 bucks.
