Long story short, Sent top jug out to get honed to the next larger size and also received a new wiseco piston from shop that did the work. Package came along with instructions which stated "The ignition timing must be correct, the carb float level must be correct, carb jetting must be correct,..etc.... How do I know what's correct ? Has a aftermarket pipe. And this is the piston they sent along with it. Thanks in advance for any help!

.
You go to the manual below and find the timing timing section and carb section and it will tell you.

As far as jetting goes, it depends on several factors with elevation and carb being one of them . If it ran fine before and the plug was light to medium brown, I would go up one size on the main jet and break it in there.

Also, make sure the spark plug is not hotter than the recommended one.

Odds are, many of the settings are already correct. If it ran well before the piston went, it's probably good. Once it's assembled, do a leak down test. This will verify the engine is sealed up and that you wont get a bad reading when trying to tune it in.

If it ran like crap, that may explain the reason why the piston went, coulda been a leak. Possibly never tuned in. Eitherway, leak down test.

As for ignition timing, the manual will state were it needs to be set. It may not even be adjustable.

The Picture only provides ring information. Those are rings fit wiseco 67.5mm 1985 ATC 250r. Thes ealso fit the 89 trx250r. The 88 and 89 trx use a different piston, but the same rings.

1. Engine timing isn't adjustable on the 85, so unless you are running an aftermarket timing plate you are fine.
2. Do you have the stock carb on your bike (34MM roundslide, model number PE37A)? if so, then your main is a 142 and your pilot is a 52 with 2 turns out on airscrew and needle clip on second groove from top. Also your float level is 16mm.
3. Before putting a new top end on, I highly advise a pressure test of the entire motor.
