So I went ahead and finally got a gold valve set and a new spring for my +4 swinger for my 86 atc250r. I took apart the old shock carefully and laid it all out. Well, my curious toddler took it upon herself to re-arrange daddies shock parts when he turned his back! Bless her little heart for trying to help but basically she piled it all up so I have zero clue as too which way stuff is laid out. I took no pictures because I'm an idiot.. The shims aren't necessarily important, but would like a pic of the parts all laid out for reference so I can be sure to put it all back together the correct way. I can purchase a blown shock to dissect if I must but that's the last resort. Thanks in advance!

I am sure i have a shock laying around you can dissect.
I would ask that you put it back together again before you gave it back.
When did you get an 86???
Pics??

No new bike, it's such a mix of parts that I call it either or usually LOL. Started with a 86 frame, broke that one and ended up with a 85 frame. The motor is an 86' forks are 85', triples are 86' and so on haha. It's a mixed bag of 85-86 parts. Thank you for your offer on the shock, I might just take you up on that! I won't even really take it apart, just drain oil and nitrogen so I can pull out the shock shaft and valving all together to take a look.
Look up the parts fiche on Rocky Mountain ATV.

Unfortunately the parts fiche doesn't show the internals of the shock in any sort of detail. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Sorry about that. I was almost certain that they showed an exploded view, but you are absolutely right.

Thanks, but I need the internals i.e. from the seal head through the valve stack.

.
I would simply call Race Tech since they are the ones that designed the valve and have also done countless atc250r shocks and ask them . You will need to ask to speak directly to one of the shock builders . They will not have a diagram but "should" be able to give you the info you need over the phone . They are also one of the premier shock building company's and have very fair prices and quick turn around times.

Look...up in the sky....its a bird....it's a plane....no, it's "The Great Barnett!".
Yessiree Bob, the auto reply robot formerly known as "&" has once again returned to bloviate, pontifcate, and just generally gesticulate with his his long boring overly complicated explanations of how to set a spark plug gap or tire pressure along with other similar highly technical subjects as he laughs at his own jokes along the way!
OMG! I just wet my pants.

There are some that still believe you are merely an Al Gore rhythm.
