Im restoring my '84 200X, going well, though whilst i have the motor apart,i just measured a few things to be sure all was good. All but the cam and clutch plates check out OK
Firstly, the cam lobe hieghts are unusual, measured with verniers , EX= 30.93mm [spec=32.057-32.517] IN= 31.35mm [spec=32.041-32.201]. Could they possibly have worn that much? I had the cam replaced in late '90's, im wondering if it might be non 200x cam? These measurements are very much like the sizings for the 200 S & M cams.
Secodly, the clutch plate measurement, the thickness of the steel plates is 1.5mm [The manual says "disk thickness", no mention of steel or friction plate specific, spec=2.9 - 3.0] The steel clutch plates dont look to me like they have eroded, but by measurement, they have or is this normal?.
The friction plates all measure within tolerance, around 2.7 to 2.9 [spec=2.9 - 3.0 - min 2.6mm], might put new clutch kit on the future to do list.
