Great to know Old Stool.

Looks like a lot of fun to me! Can't say I'm crazy about his engine colors but to each their own!

That's awesome. Maybe you and Old Stool can start a thread about how cool you guys are.

When you say "took down Shees with a modded Blaster" do you mean "I once rode past a Banshee that was pulled off the side of the trail on my Blaster"? Or maybe "I once raced the crappiest Banshee ever that had four flat tires, two fouled plugs, no gas, three stuck calipers, and a 400lb rider"? Because that's a little more likely I'd say.

Awesome. Sounds great.

Some highlights from the commentary

"She's purty sharp, uh, she runs, purty good"

"E'rbody said I should get paddles, but I tell you what, these 4snows are doin' delicious"

"It's not too shabby, I don't guess"

"Those the pistons I got right there. Those are good pistons. They're better'n Wiseco I think. That's, that's me talkin'."

"Hell I'll fire it up, let you listen to it. How bout that."

"Purty much Redneck. I live in a town, population 140 so, I do everything myself"

I'd like to ride with that guy.

250R big bore 310 or 330 250R only.

lol 310 and 330 is hardly "big bore" friend.

builders are getting 100 hp from stock banshee cylinders. not impressive but your 40hp bolt on 75mm cylinder is? throw a leg over a properly setup puma sometime.

your logic is radically skewed by your lack of experience..

nothing wrong with having a motor without a frame, and a different roller without a motor and putting them together. it works!

Still can't believe people don't give banshees any credit. Can't you just accept your 250r isn't the only awesome ATV on the planet. They are definitely not banshee killers.

Yep, its no blaster. I have seen worse, am a bit surprised that it fit that well, and I bet that he is one of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet. I have never ridden a banshee, but I smoked one once. By smoked, I mean beat in a holeshot. Trish on here is a sweet bike, this appears to have required slightly less fabrication.

Definitely no Blaster. On a serious note, I like the tri-z banshee much more than the 250r. It seems wrong to do that to an R. Like putting a dress on your son.

This blaster of ours is just some old ragged out worked over leaky contraption that will blow your ear drums and roast your toes every time you shift.

And yes, it's a 200cc blaster still.

If its "smoking" banshees, its not still a 200cc blaster. What does the engine have done to it? Curious minds want to know.

From what i can remember.. Chambered head, nasty fast port job with triples and boyesen, 36mm carb, cr125 reed cage, timing advanced, that pipe, gutted air box+added 100 micron mesh as a prefilter, pro wedge tires, gearing.

It's a 57mm stroke, and i think it's actually a 67mm bore. 1mm over size.

Never said smoked, but it's a 2 stroke. So i suppose it smoked? lol The motor twist over 10k with the current set up. I'm not happy with the timing advanced though. I've actually started a side project of recreating the CDI for the blaster with an adjustable curve. It's loosly based of my Tecate CDI schematic. lol

For the porting, some material was taken away, some added back. We we're limited on what we could add back, didn't own a tig at the time. :)

I mean I'm sure it's impressive but horsepower numbers... That's a big mountain to climb bud. I'd guess (just guessing) a Blaster to be about 28 HP or so? A Banshee must come out of the box with at least 50. I suppose it's not impossible but I'd like to see any video anywhere of any Blaster beating even a stock Banshee. Anyone can say what they want, but Banshees are just fricken fast!! I've never owned one but I applaud Yamaha for putting something out that's so outside of the box. I had an RD400 and that was great! Blasters are neat-o if you're like 12, but really?

My apologies you said "took down shees", I threw in the synonym "smoked". Seems like some tall tails...got vids?

I am running no porting, .030 milled head with FMF gold series and +4 timing (everything else stock). I will be down in LSOK late October...I'll give ya a go.

Blasters came out at 17hp, banshees in the low 30s. The blaster also weighs less. A set of pipes on a banshee can get it around 40hp alone. The 250r can hang with the banshee no problem, stock vs stock. 250r had about 32hp.

Blasters are heavily underrated. They are horrible constricted. But 30 or so hours into a port jobs changes it from a turd to a race ready cylinder. I wish i had video of this blaster. I've got a few of the last build we did, it wasn't as extreme, but did hit our mark of 10,500RPM.

Any blaster? Does it include stroked and big bore? I shall make you eat your words.

In that vid of our old blaster, that fmf fatty pipe pushes 10500 RPM. You can actually pull the RPM these days with a phone app LOL.

As for head milling, we got no idea how much we took off for the blaster in that video. Had an old timer mill it until the lip on the base was flush with the cooling fin.

The drag piped blaster had ome really funny ebay special head that was chambered all silly. It actually touched the piston when we built it. We were hung over and clearanced it up at the dunes with a dremel until it fit. It only had about 120psi, but thats static. My guess is at the high RPM range, the squish velocity was about right. We've taken the head off and I've began measuring/began my math(s). I want to try casting parts, and a air cooled head looks easy enough!

You never did. >.< The +4 timing caught me off guard. Thats a common blaster mod.

I beat many a banshee on my stock cylinder'd 250r in the late 90's, but it helped that I was probably 150 lbs then. Once the Trinity engined banshees started showing up I couldn't hang, but I'd get piped banshee's by about two or three bikes. I love my 250r and I still love the banshee, but I don't think I'd ever marry the two together. I'd do the Tri-z swap in a heart beat though.

I didn't watch the video, not my thing lol.Couple helmetless dudes running what appear to be bone stock rigs, both of them spin tire for maybe 150 feet in basically a tie. One guy cant make the turn and runs his ride into the grass, while the other celebrates his marginal and possibly debatable triumph by yanking his bars bunny hop style, only to coax his beast into pulling an 18 inch up and down wheelie. It's meant as a spoof ;)

I've read that thread several times, thanks.

That's not what I had in mind. Trish uses a lot of Tri-Z frame pieces. Not to get caught up in semantics, that's not what I'd consider a conversion. That's a full blown custom Tri-Z with a banshee engine. And it's sick. What I'm wondering is why someone hasn't gone the route of just putting a trike front end onto a banshee.

I don't actually doubt it's been done, just haven't seen it anywhere in person or on the net.
