Do the front forks on a ATC 250 R, fit a 200X? Any bits transpose to the 200 X? Also, do any other motors bolt straight into a 250R frame?

BTW, i mean '84 200X, and '83 250R, sorry to be too broad, but any info will help

I believe the 83-84 250r triples and forks will swap onto a first gen 200x, but they are longer and raise the front end up a few inches. Look up shortline10's threads on here. I think he has this setup on his race bike with a plus 2 swinger.

Yes you can, I have a set of 84r triples I had bored to accept the 200x steering stem.

the only time I will be easy is when I'm killed by death

This pic is the '83 250R forks, I assume the misalignment [??20deg] between the forks themselves and the headstock shaft, is intentional .....yes?

Yes. Its normal. Also on the 85/86Rs.

Thanks, thats excellent news. Should have the forks on in next week of two, I always thought the front of mine needed raising a tad, cant wait. I assume the frame can handle [structuraly] the slight increase in angle with the R forks in place? That would affect the C O Grav also, not that i care, just sayin. The bearings look OK, hopefully they will clean up. Id think those bearings would wear slowly [light load, as bearings go], and it would be rust or grit that would be the killer, mine look pretty clean, so im hoping they are useable, fingers crossed. I have 1 broken bolt in the L axle holder cover, hopefullt an easyout will fix that, otherwise, its all looking good for 200"R"X

A question, two actually.

and 83 R shock...
Your refering to the R's REAR shock, ....yes? Do they fit the X frame and swingarm? I have 2 laying around .......[rubs hands together in anticipation!] Also have the R swingarm, could i be so lucky as to just slide them in?

Q2:- In your photos [oldskool], 1st and 2nd pics, what is the motor in those 2 X's ?

Also, i read in the 200X shop manual, the shock fluid overhaul procedure, i assume the regassing must be done professionally? Any aussie NSW folk know where to get this done?

Nice job mate, looks pretty schmick!! In not racing mine, so im keeping the mods to a minimum, but im a chronic tinkler! Sorry to drive you mad with questions! LOL
That swingarm in the pics, is that the X arm ?

them bore it to accept stock 200x stem because stock 200x stem is larger diameter

This is required or optional? I ask, as i was intending to use the R's bearings, or is that not possible?

HRE rear dog bone mount why, because it keep rake the trail the name when going with longer suspension
Sorry mate, i dont get what you mean on the "rake ......" bit. did you mean "Rake angle the same"?

I brought an old 250R '83 [on VIN], came with most things just no motor [spewin!!], also 2 rear shocks, i cant garauntee they are '83, is there any unique markings on the "83 rear Shocky's ?

We need more Aussies around here,,,just saying....:TrikesOwn,,Rake and trail,it is what makes a 3 wheeler go round and round. Google it and fill your brain lol. It all works out perfectly on this particular swap though, unless you are gonna be racing it super hard, then you will want a pretty aggressive front tire. I highly doubt you will even notice. It's a great swap. Let us know how you like it when done.

I know a thing or two about 200x's
:beer Yeh, i noticed that LOL, and appreciate your help, keep it coming!

you could of had it done by now
settle down there old mate, Im Australian, we do things at a more liesurely pace. No rush mate! LOL I got plenty big ideas, but dont have easy access to machining equipment, which slows things down a little also.

I read a bit about the rake and trail, makes a bit more sense to me now, thanks for the link atc007.

On my swingarm, one of the needle bearings is stuffed, some pitting on the large spacer sleeve [minor'ish], though all else is OK, so, is it better to buy just the bearings [Or buy a toyo equivalent maybe], or the complete kits?

I know about and would prefer the derlin replacement sleeves, but i cannot source them anywhere that i know of.

I found a couple of sets of 200x bushings I forgot about. I don't know what shipping to Australia would be though.

A previous owners handywork, both bearings on the same side, and a wear lip about 1" inside the tube on LHS, bugger!! The bearings are not moving, might need a press.

Thanks mate, i had a feeling thats all it was, wanted to be certain. Not at all surprised they arent available. I can only get very infrequent access to lathe, need tank bolts also, i will try to whip both up next time i get on it.

Should get the forks done in next few weeks,

I measured the stems, my X has two different sized bearing spigotts, yes i checked it 3 times, Is this normal behaviour for a 200X stem?

233642

Ive Been checking out ebay, there are a heap of stem bearing kits out there, anyone know of the best kit for my application ['83 -250R forks- onto - '84 200X.]

Told you 3 times already you need to bore the 250R lower triple out some to it fis in the 200x stem because it was larger DIA then the 250r. Why are you questing the same thing over and over after I keep telling you how and what's needed done.

........ Please just listen to me because I have done this on many bikes. It's easier then logging into 3WW
Wooback old mate, im not questioning it, i get that, no dispute, didnt mean to dispute what you said, i get the swap proceedure you gave, apologies mate, seriously ..... I refered only to the 200x stem in my question

You can not use R bearings in the 200x. R bearings are tapered. 200x ones are loose balls.
this made me think tapered were out of the question, sorry i didnt get it right
i didnt explain it properly, i want to replace the bearings with TRB's, im missing 7 balls from the X bearings [yes, i caught all that came out], so i dont see an alternative in this case. There are many kits around that are tapered roller for "replacement for ball bearings" for the X [as you probly know]. I just found it unusual to see 2 different sized spigotts on the 200X stem,

i was just seeking confirmation/opinion on that, so i can confirm that any bearing replacements are the appropriate fit, sorry if this upset you. I have it now, thanks again
