1985 250sx gets hot... smokes

the other day i ripped the old girl around the truck yard for about 10 minutes.. maybe 4th gear 3/4 throttle at the fastest... as i was parking it i noticed how hot it was... dipstick too hot to handle... is that normal? what is normal temperature or typical overall hotness??.... also..unrelated... she smokes a fair bit.. is that JUST pistorn rings usually or any other things to look out for?

That's too hot. Your rings are worn,and almost definitely your piston and cylinder bore. You will need a hone/most likely a bore with a oversized piston kit. Also do a valve job while in there.
