How in the world do you get the back brake drum off of a 185, I have a manual and still cannot get it off. I wanted to try to get it off without pulling the whole bearing carrier out, but I might have to. Someone please help me out here. Thanks, Kaysen

Is it stuck to the axle? If so you can get it out the easiest by knocking the axle out. Just be sure to take the chain and chain cover loose first. ;)
There is no need to remove the bearing housing. Doing that only makes it harder to get it off.

Howdy, I didnt quite understand you, so your saying knock the axle out from the shifter side to the footbrake side, and just leave the drum on the axle? Thanks Kaysen[/u]

Sorry about the confusion!!
Let me clarrify myself a little better here. The axle must be slid or removed going from right to left ( If your standing behind the 3 wheeler facing the seat ).
It is OK to use a hard wood block and a hammer. Place the block of wood on the end of the axle ( right / brake drum side ). Then hit the wood block with the hammer until it moves ( slides out ) some. All your doing is pushing the axle through the brake drum ( and bearing housing ). This is a easier way to knock the brake drum loose from the axle ( when it's stuck ).
One thing to be VERY Careful is to not damage the splines on the end of the axle ( hence the hard wood block ). Some times it takes a BFH ( Big F****** Hammer ) to get the axle to slide. But it's always good to start with a regular hammer first. Once the axle moves about 2-3 inches the drum should come the rest of the way off with out much problem.
Hardwood block: Oak is very good for this. I have even used a piece of fire wood. ;)
I hope that is a little clearer for you. If not let me know. ;)
Thanks

Thanks, I just wasn't clear on what you were saying. I'll try it tomorrow and put up a post telling you if it worked or not. Thanks again, Kaysen
