So I put an 83 cr480 engine into an 85 200x, it's coming along nicely, fresh motor rebuild, the extended swing arm is going on next, also gotta derust the exhaust, waiting on a parts from a 200x I had my buddy part out down in the states, it's hard to get parts in southeast Alaska

I built the frame, It'll hold up, half the frame is 480 and half is 200x also it's reinforced

Gonna be way past a handfull. Looks like the stuff rusts up there as bad as it does down here!. 200X parts are fairly easy to come by,throw an add in the classifieds here if you find yourself needing anything. Good luck ;)

My 83 CR480 trike suffered from extreme vibration and later we found out that model year suffered from poorly balanced cranks from the factory so if you ever have the motor apart you might wanna consider having the crank balanced if yours also vibrates badly.

That would have been nice to know when I had it apart, how fast was your trike? What chassis did you run? Have any pics?

It used a custom 82 250R style frame made for us by Nick Nicholson. I raced it only a couple of times and it was quite the handful i gotta say. I do not have many good photos of it but here are a couple i found.

It is the #10 bike on the trailer in the background.

232925

I tried racing it at a few times, both motocross and TT and found the 4 speed gearbox difficult to work with due to the ratios it had. On long straights when it would be tapped out in fourth my hands would just be a blur from the vibration.

That thing is awesome! I rode an 82r with a 300 kit and it was scary haha fat front tire is not the way to go, I believe mine is the 5speed gear box is it an 84 then?

No it's '83 if it's 5 spd. The 4 speeds were '82's. The '84's were 500's and they are right side kick & left side drive

Mine must of had a 82 engine than, my mistake. The fat front tires are not as good for motocross but are better for flat track and TT, more contact patch is more traction.
