Ive got a 1983 honda 200 and my needle was in bad shape and my carb was leaking so i bought a good used carb that was on a running trike.I put it on mine and set up the air screw and it ran fine and then one day it started running bad so i put a new plug in it and it just kept getting worse.at first it would run and then when it got hot or after 5-10mins of running it would choke and then die and now as soon as i start it up it idles sky high and then shuts off...any ideas?

I would take the bottom part of the carb apart and spray it with carb cleaner. If that doesn't work, sounds like a bad float or needle.

Anyone? I was thinking it might be the fuel shut off valve because when I had the tank off I could turn the gas on and it was very slow to come out.Would it be the coil?

Sounds like your petcock is clogged, starving the motor from gas.

On both my daughters and son's new atc, we replaced the coil wire and boot w/plug 8)

I know this sounds weird but i blew the carb clean with some carb cleaner and an air compressor . I changed the fuel filter that comes from the tankl to the carb and then put a new needle. Fixed my carb problems
