I have a 85 Honda 350x Astro conversion rolling chassis I picked up for cheap earlier this year. I have been looking for a engine and came across a 85 cr500 complete running bike. I see a lot of threads about putting that engine in a 250r frame but not much info about a 350x frame. Does anybody know how difficult this would be? Thanks

I would not do it, only because the 350x frame has some well documented weak spots, & if you check over that 350x frame, there is a strong possibility that it is already cracked! Of course, there is a gusset kit out there, & you can make your own gussets too, so why not? Just make sure you take care of your weak spots!

Thanks for the info. I didn't think about the weak points. I need to look the frame over a little closer.
I would convert the dirt bike before messing with swapping it into another frame like a 350x. Even the 250r frame has to be highly modified to make it work. Then you are messing with exhaust and things like that. I know Laeger's back in the day used to sell a 2-3 wheeler conversion kit for the cr500, I'm not sure what years it was for though?

Don't want to rain on your parade, but that motor will eat that frame quickly.

Super bad idea, as said above. That frame will disintegrate under a 2 cycle 500.
