Opened the carb up, was pretty clean so I rinsed it real quick and next thing I new we were cruising down the road. Going to go ahead and rebuild it, and adjust it. Also noticed it has a ANSWER muffler, haven't heard of them till now.

I enjoy putting together their past.
Also gave her a good shake down and confirmed its a 85

Been having a lot of fun these past few days with her, but she is smoking some so I guess she'll need a top end at some point. Anybody have a ball park to get that done? Don't think it's bad enough right now, but defiantly keeping my eye on that

Depends what it needs really. If its just a hone and rings, and a new top end gasket kit, less than 50 bucks for that. I just did my 85 recently. I paid about 90 bucks for a 10.25:1 wiseco piston/rings kit first oversize. And 50 bucks for the bore and hone. So 140 for total for that. While its apart it would be wise to replace valve seals (they come with your gasket kit usually). And check all your clearances. I ended up getting my head completely rebuilt, new valve guides, valves, lapped soda blasted the whole 9 yards and that cost me like 160 total labor included. Put it back together yourself w the manual as a guide and youre golden. So all in all COMPLETE rebuild including the head cost me 300 bucks and should last another 30 years hopefully. PS: as far as top end gaskets i personally would not recommend the Moose kit. The head gasket was poorly made and didnt fit quite right. Idk maybe i got a bad one, but id look elsewhere for the gaskets

I think I messed up.
I went to put tapered roller bearings in the neck. Top is too long, bottom is too short and I can't get them back out.
And I can't get the old bearing piece of the lower triple. Tried winging it since no one has a good how to.

Yea, I've read this in a thread before. The races are specific top to bottom. Other than knowing that, I could t tell you a good way to get them out without beating the sh!t out of them.

The top does stick out a bit on those. I used the same ones, i left one of the washers out and it gave just enough threads to get the nut on.

Read through this. This is my thread from when i did mine. The bearings that goes on the bottom is ever so slightly bigger inner diameter then the one for the top. The races i believe are the same, but u need the larger id bearing to go on the bottom. I stuck the whole triple in the freezer, figured out which bearing went where, and it popped right on the stem. I believe i ended up using a dremel and VERY carefully notching into the race that was stuck on the stem like yours. Went about halfway through, then gave it a couple whacks w a flathead screwdriver, and it broke off. Dont worry!!!! It happens on just about every set any of us do! The bottom race you have in the neck is not too short!! Its supposed to be like that!!!! Dont beat it to death!!

After some aggressive techniques that probably aren't approved, got the bearings in. Also order a new-to-me metal tank. Got the triples on, forks on with new boots, and the fender. After asking all my friends we decided the baja lights would look best. Was wanting to order a new front fender, but didn't want to wait, plus this is my trail bike, don't want a real nice fender on it to get scratched and cracked.

If you don't mind me asking who did them? They look great! The baby blue daystars i have are functional but they are held on with zip ties and they are folded up on one side....

I'm not sure who I got them from. But I found a couple that look the same.

Got my new tank in yesterday. Need to find the proper hardware that bolts the tank to the frame and then the seat/fenders hook to.

Screw them into the frame through the tank, then the grommets go on the ends and the front fender bracket goes onto the grommets to hold the front of the fenders on. Then the fender brackets can be had for cheap on ebay. I think i got all 3 in a set for like 20 bucks. Just gotta look around. I may have a spare set of the tank bolts id part with for cheap plus shipping if i for sure have them. Ill check when i get home from work. The grommets i dont have though. Just the bolts..then you also need these for the holes in the tank that the bolts go through http://m.ebay.com/itm/1985-Honda-ATC-200X-Fuel-Tank-Rubber-Mounts-Grommets-Rear-OEM-85-/281995058340?nav=SEARCH
