Well I have thinned the herd a ton, went from 10 down to 2. ATC 70 with a 125 motor that usually just sits at home as I can't get it running well, plus my rebuilt 200S with a 200S cam and carb that stays at my buddy that has some property's house. Well a friend text me and offered this, perfect trike for doing work around the house, plus fun to hit the back roads.
Latest score, paid $300, was told it was running great and just died. Was expecting to need a CDI or something else not cheap. Flipped the petcock with the hose off, rusty fuel trickled out, take petcock off and it was sludged to hell, cleaned that and the tank. Put tank back on and fuel comes out with hose not connected, but not once i connect it, WTF? Take hose and filter off, put just a hose back on and it fires right up and idles. Headlight works, brakes work, seems to run really well, reverse cable is seized so I dunno if reverse works.

Id pay $300 all day long for a trike like this. How are the front forks? Are they seized up or do they move freely?

Seem pretty good, not to soft and not to hard.

I'm not into racks, but I know some guys would kill for the racks alone. So, a running SX with racks, for $300? I think you did just fine. :)

Not a huge fan of the look, but it will be nice to have for doing yard work, or if I get a deer this fall.

Love finds like this. Really cheap, relatively easy fixes, spit and shine and you have an awesome bike. Nice find bud.

Cant beat a 250SX..... fun to ride and unstopable like a tank!!! I had one that I sold and regreted it, so I bought a better one....Great machines!!!! Good buy!!! Let me know if you decide to sell the racks.

Should have just left well enough alone.... Front brakes worked, but not until fully depressed with cable fully adjusted. Bought new shoes and cable, so I started to take it apart.... Ruined the axle after hours of trying to get it apart, blew out the bearings taking it apart. So my $20 1 hour fix has turned into $75 and 5+ hours of work. When will I learn.

It is all part of owning a machine that is over 3 decades old. You are still ahead of the game, and have learned a bit about your SX. The bearings may have needed to be replaced anyway, and now you will have the peace of mind knowing they are good to go. Don't forget to grease the axle upon reassembly. Don't use NeverSeez, use grease. Don't ask me how I know...

Hmmm, never would have expected the racks to be worth that much. Rear rack is a must have for me, so that not going anywhere. Front rack is pretty beat up, what is it worth? I may be interested in selling that.

Think I could have had a pair of big reds for under $600 today, but another loud mouth customer that has money to waste told him they are worth 500+ each, I wanted to punch him in the face as soon as he opened his fat mouth.

Factoid = SX is the best trike ever built. Get yourself a manual on ebay. Be the best $30 you can spend. Check this site. there's tons of good advise, tips and tricks to help you out. Make sure your diff fluid is clean, and NEVER remove the three allen heads near your driveshaft.

Not quite understanding why they have a bad name? I have been to they are worthless and suck by trike lovers. I love it. Racks, auto clutch. Reverse, suspension.... Yea it's not a race trike, but it's the perfect little tractor I can have some fun on.
Also, new shoes and bearings up front and brakes work well now, reverse cable installed and that works now. Put a twilight I had on the shelf and it works, now I just need to add a battery and ignition and hope that electric start system is in order.

Of all my trikes my SX is the one that I grab to take on trail rides at the atv parks because I know it won't let me down. It's just a very universal fun playing trike. Great for wheelies too231540

Of all the trikes I have had (200x 85&86, 350x, not stock Tri-z, atc70/125). My 200S 40 over with an X cam and carb is by far the most fun trike I have had overall. The SX may change that, tike will tell.

^Disc brake rear end? If so, the rear axle alone is worth 5 times what you paid. Even with drum brakes the 8.8 is a very common swap for JEEPS.

Killer deal. I'd buy that in a heartbeat for that price...I might be talked into twice that. My SX is by far my favorite trike.

I love my SX. I had one a year or so ago and traded it but missed it immediatly, so I bought another. Definitly the best "ALL AROUND" trike out there. Electric start with back up kicker in case battery or solinoid craps out... shaft drive for some fun mud action... Reverse has got me out of a few jams... fast enough to be fun, yet can cruise a trail with my kids in comfort. Always my first choice as well. Took mine out today!!!231588231589

Wish mine was that nice, maybe after I get everything mechanical fixed I will clean mine up real good and new plastics and sticker it up.

I love the look of the SX, just not as much with racks. Maybe they will look better once I pull them and sand them down and repaint.

Fixed the no power when key on issue after I put the es switch in, red wire by the battery wasn't plugged in. Found out starter is shot, new one should be in Sunday. Now I just need to fix the one tire leak and it's on to cosmetics, after I fix my cheap truck I bought. I have under $500 into a fully functional SX, now let's hope the ranger project goes as well.

Just added it up and I have $503 into it, only thing that doesn't work now is the handlebar rear brakes, needs a cable.

New rear tires and cable, under $650 into it, running and riding well now. Been hauling wood and water all weekend, other than being jumpy when put in first, and having to click the shifter back after a downshift, it seems good.
