I purchased a 70w led bar off eBay and my problem is it will only work at idle, when you rev it up it goes out. Does a regulator or capacitor need to be added to make it work? Thanks

well first of all there's a wiring diagram for you
the issue you are having is because your trike is ac voltage and led's run on dc. you need a rectifier (switches ac to dc). any simple rectifier will work. i have a generic 4 wire on my 500x. You also may find you need a capacitor with this setup. here's a link to a thread that goes more in depth into this conversion

I would try adding a 2-wire regulator to the system.
LEDs probably shut off due to over-voltage.
I'm no EE, so I could be wrong.
I run LEDs on a handful of trikes using the AC system with just a "shunt" type regulator. 350X & later 250R come with one. I added a 2-wire regulator on my Tecate and a couple of 70s. I don't use a cap, battery or convert to DC but I've considered it. We'll see how long these last, first.

Jb2wheels, I have a 3rd gen 250r regulator I could try. I'm trying to get it going for the weekend and won't have time to wait for an order to come in. Did you put your regulator inline with the yellow wire from the stator?

Yes.
The 2-wire regulators are easy to connect. As I recall, they have a yellow wire and a black or brown wire.
Yellow connects to the yellow on the trikes. A 3-way connection - stator, lights or switch, regulator.
Black to ground.

The 86 250r regulator fixed the problem. Thanks to all for your help
