Been quite some time since I've posted on here, but just had a +6 swinger made for my R, big thanks to Billy for making this happen! Just wonder what length of chain I'll need for it (how many links)? Thanks 230530

Beautiful work of art. I would clean it and leave it raw,,,looks like a steel carrier.

You're likely going to have to mock it up for an answer, unless you know someone with the same swinger and sprockets on the same year of trike. Looks great!:beer

Hold up? Is that a pair of vice grips? Those aren't the right tool for ATCs bro. Better go buy some quality snap on wrenches to put in the picture next time.

Just buy a chain and cut it to length.

^^^^ good move "bro" poke at the website owner.

There is a thread here somewhere that provides a calculation to tell how many links for plus lengths. You can get one a few links longer than cut to length. I will search for the thread.

Thatd be greatly appreciated Mr.Clean and as for the swinger once it arrives I'll be having it powder coated silver to match my frame since there's a shop in town that does that or it'll be sent off to be chromed

With some people its hard to tell the difference between humor and stupid, but don't worry, your signals come through clear as day.:beer

 Snap-On wrenches got nothing to do with building the swing arm.

At least they are vise-grip brand, which is a quality tool, and not harbor freight or cheap Chinese.

Sam still looking for that thread!!

Don't forget that you'll need a longer brake line too, Sam. Watch that place in Lloydminster that does PC; beside PWM Steel I think. Matt had his Taurus suff there and some parts are coated pretty thin.

Yeah dad I've been in contact with Matt, he said if I get it pc'd there to make sure it's thick, might send it to Edmonton for chroming and yeah a longer brake cable's going to be ordered here shortly, once I've got everything I'll be sure to come borrow your shop for the install lol

And sounds good thanks Mr. Clean!

I have searched and cannot come up with the thread. Kasey posted the length of a link and had a math equation. My advice is to figure out how long a stock chain is, then figure out how long a link is and go like 20 inches longer than stock. If you are at +6 and you double that to +12 the extra 8 inches will ensure you can cut to length.

Hope this helps.

You must have a 114 link chain I think you only counted the outer links. Stock 250r is 96. My Tri-z has a +3 with 108 links.

I just bought a 150 link 520 chain for my plus 4" and it was about 15" too long. You'll be safe with a 150 link for sure to answer you original question.
