Ive got a bone stock 70 that I partly misdiagnosed as low compression. (Only ran on choke)
Turned out I was half right. I was also missing the piece that goes between the jet and the carb body.
80psi compression with the throttle closed, 110 @ WOT and 140psi with some oil squirted into the combustion chamber. Ran fine when I swapped carbs but was obviously on the weak side. Since I had already ordered the big bore kit it was going on.
Anyways I scored a big bore kit at auction for 77 bucks, installed it (came with more than required, I cant speak highly enough of the kit) and the bike runs great. I was worried about detonation so I running it on 93 octane.
Does anyone else have this kit and if so can you safely run regular unleaded? Its cheaper and should have more btu's.
I ran a compression check with the big bore and get 110psi throttle closed and 140psi wot.
Seems like its compression psi is the same with a stock 70 but I dont know how to confirm weather or not Ill get detonation before hand.
