I bought a $25 carb off ebay for my 185s. I found that it did lack power in the higher rpms like it was starving. I didnt use the original jets but I had a jet assortment that took a little playing around with until i had it right. If your old carb jets are still in good shape I bet you'll be alright.

what led to you buying a new carb? was there to much wear? mine leaks a lot, from the idle screw and other areas, thats why i figured it might just be better to get a new one then a rebuild kit

Some here have had some luck with them, others haven't. Sometimes the original jets will swap out with the Chinese carb, sometimes they won't, previous posts here have covered this.
You get what you pay for.
How do you know your carb leaks from the idle screw and other areas?

What year and model?
It's probably missing the rubber o ring and flat washer that go in there. And possibly the spring. Have you tried rebuilding the carb yet?

Screws were all frozen some striped out. That's why I said screw it whole new carb. I guess I got lucky with mine. This was 5 years ago too things get made cheaper by the day

The idle jet screw or the idle screw for the slide?
Nevermind, doesn't really matter. Try rebuilding the carb. If you don't know the last time it was rebuilt, then it's time for a rebuild.

I know of only one machine that had a china carb put on from ebay, it was a 200s my cousin was given. He didn't keep it very long, but I do remember it was jetted a bit on the lean side. I have read others with the china carbs generally are a bit too lean too. My dad bought a china quad quite a long time ago now (like 8 years) and it has always been a pain to start and has the same lean signs, but he hasn't messed around with it much.
Moral of the story, china carbs need to be re-jetted to run correctly.

Hard to imagine a $25 carb would have problems

The one I bought years ago was when they 1st started making these.
Every damn jet was non standard to what I was use to. Never got it to work on a 200CC motor.
I don't trust these calipers or master cylinders either, but they could get ya killed. A carb just hurts your man-feelings...

I've put the china carbs on 2 110's and a 70. Had no problems with any of them.

Care to expand on which guy from Chicago? Link or phone number? I'd prefer Japanese made over China made any day when price is that cheap =D.
