I just purchased a 350x mud flap off ebay this week since my X did not have one. I just bought the X a couple months ago and have been slowly working on it. Anyway, this mud flap I purchased was cracked in two but is mended together with a small bracket and screws... I figured it was worth the price and could somehow make it work (yea I know I bought a broken part on ebay you can laugh).

When I went out back to the shop to do some work on the flap I noticed that my rear fender has a massive crack exactly where the mud flap has its crack. Holding it up it was a perfect match. It never occurred to me that the fender and mud flap could have been together before. The flap came out of California and I am in Michigan. What are the chances of this part making it out to CA then back to MI and then onto the same rear fender. What's the chances? Sort of neat. :wondering Anybody else have this happen before?

A little off topic, but the weirdest mechanical thing I ever saw was at a family gathering at Candle lake SK in the early 80's. My Grandparents from SK had a 1980 Mercury, my Aunt from AB had a 78 Mercury wagon and my folks from MB had a 79 Ford wagon. By accident we found out that the keys for all three vehicles were identical.

The next week one of my uncles did a little research on it with Ford to see how many key types they used. The math on all three interchanging was astronomical.

Another was when an uncle of mine bought a red 1946 Chevy truck at an auction for his son in the early 80's because as a kid in his home town there was a black 46 he liked a lot. When we stripped the red paint (and a few other colours) off the truck was black and had the city insignia on the doors. It was the same truck!
