Have the chance to buy this 250r it's a 1981 has +2 swingarm, +4 axle, 350x front end, dg pipe. Top end needs to be rebuild and carb. He's asking 850 for it I seen mint ones go for 1000-1100. 850 doesn't seem too bad with the extras what's your opinions?

Depends what you want . All those parts can be bought new so you could buy a mint one and add the parts and keep the orig parts which is what i would do . i would also buy every mint one I could find for $1000.00.

There's a fully restored and painted 1982 250r that is super nice and they only want $1600 so $1000 for yours bud
Buy it then sell me the swing arm and axle.

To me the rear drum brake is the charm of the 81 250r.Rear drum brake works great on these machines in proper working order. $800 with the goodies that are on it isn't bad. If you get it do crank bearings and seals with a topend rebuild .Can you get any other pics. the exhaust is supposed to be on the left rear.

That would go for 600 around here. Not much demand for the first gens

I agree that they're isn't a demand for them here either,on the same note, they don't come up for sale as often. o but they are very easy to work on,and regular parts are relatively cheap compared to some models. Little bit of a handful to ride compared to 2nd and 3rd gen ,but still an awesome trail machine, and they look great redone especially with the fat front tire.

It's for sale 1800$ Only tire kickers so far and people who think it's worth only a grand. Cash is king. On another note I hate Craigslist:twisted:

Sweet tike. Is this the one that Fabio used to have. Kerker first gen pipes are hard to find. This also have the 300r topend.I think its worth your asking price.

That's surprising guess it's just weird something being that fast with a drum brake. That is the only pic he said he had. He said the crank looks new and like a hotrod so that might have been done already. I thought the exhaust looked funny too don't the 82s come out that side?

81-84 250r the exhaust is on the left both head pipe and silencer. The first year Tecate I believe 84 has a front drum brake. With proper maintanence the drum brake will work well . I raced drags,TT and have been on mx tracks with my 81 and the rear brake worked well.228570 228571

I tried to sell a real nice 81R for $400 about 4 years ago. Never got 1 call on it. Here in California you can by those any day of the week for 300-500. Heck the last 3rd gen R I bought was a runner with original plastics, I paid $750 for it. For some reason the more you go east from here the price keeps going up.

Yea it's crazy the price difference between coasts. A guy near me is selling a real nice all original 86 250r with California title for 4k. I'm from Pennsylvania and bikes get beat the quickest out here than anywhere. So hard to find nice stuff without overpaying. Even a beat 3rd gen you can get 2k

It's definitely true.My buddy just went to the imperial invasion all the way from Md. On the way he picked up a really sweet 85 250r for 1,500 out there brought paddles and rode it all week. Back home its a 2500-3000 buck bike all day long. My 82 R was brought back last year from California. They have Alot less surface rust and corrosion too compared to a trike that has lived it's whole life on the east coast.

"MR CLEAN "AKA MIke, is a great source for parts and complete trikes, he is always coming across good deals on trikes and parts to help keep us all running.
