ok i am getting a 200s motor to put in my 200x i was wondering what mods i can do to the engine. i think i can use the 200x cam, and cylinder right? if i do this will i need to change the piston? also if i have the cylinder bored how much should i go to so i will still be able to pull start it?

As long as it is a '83-85 200x the cylinder will bolt right up with the same bore, you can use the 200x piston for more compression (9.6:1 verse 7.6:1. You can buy a 12:1 compression piston for it and still be able to start it a little harder but you can. With the 12:1 piston you will need to run 102 octane or better race fuel though.

I'm running stock bore wiesco piston I believe 10:1, midrange cam, and bassani exhaust in a '84 200s motor stuffed in a '84 200x frame. Its a bear to pull, but it only takes 1, thank god. Don't use a cheap timing chain it will stretch to quick.

I had a 200 with a weisco 12:1 piston. It could pull start it fine but it was noticeably harder then stock. Deffenetly get a performance exhaust for it (remember to jet it then too). I just put a cobra exhaust on my friends 200 and it realy helped out.

with the 12:1 is it a standard bore 200s and do you have to run race fuel? also when rejetting do you go up or down in size. i was going to do a 12:1 with a 200x carb (110 jet) and a dg pipe

I had the 12:1 standard bore that needed race fuel and a larger jet. If I were to do it again I would just go with the 10.25:1 instead of the 12:1 just because where I am it is not easy to get the race fuel.

go with heavy duty valve springs no matter what. try to find a 200S top end w/ compression release. that will make it much easier to pull

i am also wondering about someof this stuff but am kinda doing it backwards. i have a 200s chassie and would like to get a 200x bottom end so i can have kick start and a manual. i would like to know if the 200s jug is the same as the 200x, im pretty sure the cam, head and valves are different. i would like to use a 200x piston, head and cam, a 200s cylinder but dont know what to use for a valve cover and rockers, i have them for a 200s but the valve cover leaks around the decompression release. is all of this stuff compatible?
