The 400ex carb swap is a highly recommended upgrade and has been discussed thoroughly here on the forum. You will need to rejet. The intake boot will need to be stretched a bit to get the larger carb seated. You can use the stock air box. It's a fairly simple swap.

Hello Chris

Nice 350X - did you purchase it from Minnedosa, MB??

Yes I did, Traded my mint atc 70 for it and some cash!
figure Id trim my collection down of stuff I don't really ride and get some rare stuff that I will ride!

What jetting does the 400 carb need?
guess I could look it up ;)

Congrats on the purchase - it looks nice. Post some pics when you get a chance.

Enjoy the ride.

When I did the 400ex carb swap, I just took the jets from my 350 carb and put them into the 400 carb. On mt stock 350x, I could tell that there's a little more power. Of course it could have been that my 350 carb was worn internally and didn't work right in the first place. I'm very happy with the results of the swap.

There is a range of years guys use. I run a 38mm FCR with a 180 main jet, and my 3fiddy has never run better.

My 87 200X runs a 32mm FCR but it has been tough to dial in. So, I bought the latest Boyesen adjustable leak jet and hot start improvements. So I hope I can dial it in when the weather breaks. Toyhauler 1st, 200X second and the Honblaster last

Even have the hot start ASV lever on there!!

You do need some metal working/welding and shaping skills to get it in there though.....
