Since I'm working around several wire harnesses now, I wanted to start up a thread about differences in wire harnesses and which ones can be interchanged and how. This thread will grow over time as I get more harnesses in hand to compare.
US90 and ATC90
K0 (US90 1969-1972), K1 (1973) Part Number: 32100-918-673
K2 (1974), K3 (1975), 1976-1978 Part Number: 32100-942-000
Based on my research, all years interchange. Only possible exception would be the K0 and K1 model might not have wiring for the headlight/taillight. Would be great if someone could confirm.
ATC250SX
1985 Part Number: 32100-HA6-000
CDI Plug: Single round 6 pin
Spot for the 86/87 Diode is direct wired with no diode, because of this neutral dash light bulb connects directly to light green/red wire
1986-1987 Part Number: 32100-HA6-680
CDI Plug: Double connector 4 pin + 2 pin
Has wiring for a diode in the Neutral safety switch circuit, because of this, the neutral dash light bulb connects to blue/red wire, after the diode it is light green/red
I'm 99% sure you can use the harnesses interchangeably if you use the CDI that matches the harness. The neutral light's positive wire is green/red for 85, and blue/red for 86/87.
I'm unsure what the diode does exactly, on some Honda motorcycles with the same diode, it is used to override the neutral switch so you can start in gear if the clutch is pulled in. Oddly the Honda service manual actually has the wire incorrectly labeled from the diode to neutral light (it says light green/red). The circuit appears to only effect the neutral light and seems pointless, can anyone expand on this? What is the difference in your machine if you run a jumper wire across the diode pins?
ATC350X
1985-1986 PN: 32100-HA5-000
CDI Plug: Double connector 4 pin + 2 pin
Both years used the same part number for the wire harness.
More machines will be posted once I can cover the full range of the model.
Please validate or correct mistakes if you find any.
