alright, i just got my 350X and i made the mistake of letting my friends little sister ride it. Needless to say something is wrong. I get it out after work round 6pm and the colutch is barely there. When i let it out for a slow takeoff, there is this grinding/slipping noise. It won't do a slow takeoff at all. Now... i can just let the clutch out in the snow becuase it wont flip as easy, but when spring finally arrives, i am going to have trouble with i know.
Any Help Is Much Appreciated

hi Honda125m1984.
re-doing a clutch isn't very hard to do and the clutch disc do wear down.
i'd reckon if the fibers on the clutch plate are all the way gone it would be noisey. i'd say your right in thinking that if unattended too it will give you troubles ,,, not to mention costing a bunch more then it should have cuz the clutch basket itself probbly is getting tore up as well.
first part i'd highly recomend to get would be a honda shop manual.
it will save you money over and over by doing lots of your own work.
350x's are nice trikes ain't they !

do yourself a favor and get one from a dealer, unless you know the seller on ebay ..you take a chance on getting shafted...yes its gonna cost more at the dealer but you KNOW EXACTLY what you are buying....my opinion....good luck

md1985250r is right. by the time you do the bidding thing, pay the bid price plus the shipping and the turn around time you ain't gonna save.
my first x manual cost about 36 dollars and of course they didn't have it in stock but got it in 2 days.

Try some few simple things first, inspect the cable for any frays or places it looks like it might start breaking. I know on my 200x when the clutch cable started to break the clutch would feel different. It always broke up by where the little nub is that slides into the lever on the handle bar.
Next try adjusting the clutch, this can be done by the two nuts on the clutch pertch on the handle bar for minor adjustments, for major adjustments use the nut located in the middle of the cable which is about a foot down the cable from the clutch pertch on the handle bar, should be right above the headlight.
None of the above would really explain a grinding noise though, but its worth a shot.
You say if you try to start out slowly it won't go anywhere? So this means if you dump the clutch it will move?

Sounds like a gear problem to me. A clutch shouldn't make any noise slipping.
Don't worry about the 350x flipping over. When it lifts past the balance point that means its time to shift. You can ride a wheelie through all 6 gears with this machine.
If it is a gear problem you should be able to shift it in to the next gear and be fine. I use to have a 250x 4 wheeler that liked to take out 3rd gear and I rode it for a year once with no 3rd.
No matter what stop riding the trike and get it into the hands of a proffesional and get it fixed. If that tranny comes apart you are out of luck.
I have never had any problems with 350x trannys but it sounds like you are. The 250r tranny is good for about 10 years of hard riding and I would imagine the 350x is about the same. Could just be worn out.

when i staryt out slowly, it seems to slip and not want to roll while making that grinding noise, but if i just take off quick it will grind a little and take off

See you should have stuck me with the 350x instead of buying it for yourself.... :D :D :D just joking with ya, Don't worry, I am sure you will eventually get it fixed and be very happy with it. If you decide to not mess with it, let me know if you want to sell it.... :-D
