Guys has anyone attempted to fit KLR250 forks to a tecate? The forks on my 85 need to be rechromed as there is rust appearing on the fork tube. By the time I rechrome (500AUD) and have the fork rebuilt (300AUD) I'm pushing towards 800 bucks. I can get a complete set of KLR forks for under 200. Thoughts?

They don't share any part numbers, but I have never tried.

If they don't have them they can build them off one of yours, most of the time they are $249 a pair.

Then handle the rebuild yourself, I can walk you through it.

I have no idea if it will work but I hope you try and I hope it does.

Tecate forks rust worse than any others for some reason and it's hard to find usable ones.

86 87 Tecate triples, forks, rim, axle, and brake. Its been done, dont remember what was involved with the head tube and bearings but nothing major. The info is on the site somewhere.

Nd4, I wasn't looking to replicate the 86/6 front end, only to find a replacement for the rusty forks on my 85. I want to retain the wide front end on my 85 to maintain the original look of the 85.

KLR250 motorcycle forks are the same diameter as the 84/5 Tecate ones.
