Looking for the shoou out in 1983 or 4 between the tecate and 84 250r.

I've read several shootouts between the Tecate and the 2nd generation R. I may still have a print out of one but I'd have to look. I remember the overall results. The Tecate won in the motor department and was deemed more race oriented, but the Honda won all the other categories, e.g., brakes, suspension, etc. The cover of the DirtWheels shootout is cool. It has the machines facing each other with the front tires touching, while the rears are kicking up roost.

Does any one have any more articles on the 85 tecate. The 85 shootout above is a little grainy to read.

Big thanks. Its my favorite article. I built and owned almost all year 250rs. And I just hated them to death. Built the motors with new parts. And still they didnt compare to my tecate. And where im from no one has ever seen, heard of or drove a Tecate. But they know how fast they are. And how since its not a honda its garbage.

Yes, it does look great....BEHIND the Tecate's.

And it's so slow, it's easy to see its beautiful lines as it passes by.

If it don't go...CHROME IT!

Isn't it hilarious how every time a Magazine says something good about a Honda it's true, but when they say something good about a Kawi it must not be because Kawi must be buying more adds in the Magazine than Honda, or because Kawi is giving the writer some cash etc.

Isn't it also hilarious how Honda finally got so desperate to beat the mighty Tecate's that they wouldn't let them practice on the track the day before the race like their Honda riders could, and at one race they even put Marty Hart's bike in a van after it wouldn't even start for the race, then drove him and the bike to the front of the pack and let him off so they could "win".

Isn't it also hilarious how the mighty Tecate with it's small group of underpaid riders spanked the crap out of the Honda's on their way to several Championships.

Heck, if the TECATE is so bad, and the Honda is so good, it must have been divine intervention when I won a race beating the factory Honda guys on a TECATE that had a stock swingarm, stock shock, stock forks, stock rear axle [with wheel spacers] AND OLD USED TIRES, because I'm just a nobody!

Even Marty Hart, whom was Honda's best rider at the time, couldn't pull a hole shot on a TECATE that had a mildly ported production TECATE cylinder, with his bike that had a hand made, water cooled, factory "Works" $30,000.00 Honda engine and a radiator MOUNTED ON THE HANDLEBARS. http://www.mustang.org.au/forum/Smileys/smilies/shrug.gif
