Just picked up an '84 Honda 250R. Despite being a SoCal trike, the chain is pretty rusty on it. Doesn't look like it had been lubricated since 1985.

Questions:
Is it worth trying to 'resurrect' this chain from the relative dead? If so, what should I soak it in?
If it isn't worth saving, what's a decent chain at a decent price? O-ring chain or non-O-ring chain?

Thanks

non oring if your gonna ride a lot of mud and crap. the oring ones clog up and get stiff where the non oring ones are floppy like you want.

There's generally not too much mud out here in AZ, but I've been known to like riding through it when it exists. :D Still, probably better to go non-O ring.

.
If you are on a budget, I would get a standard DID chain . . Their standard chain is decent quality and they have been making chains for around 378 years . . The standard chain will have a small empty white box on the top or the letter K in the box or no white box at all . . I guess they were undecided how to label it.

Check your sprockets for wear . . If they are worn much, they will QUICKLY kill a new chain.

You can get a free online service manual also.
