Here we go on getting this neglected 85 350x back to a rider. Going to be a lot of blood, sweat and beers but it's gonna be worth it in the end. So, I got a some rust spots on the bottom of the frame that need repair. Has anyone had this problem? I posted some pictures of the bottom of the frame.

The 650l head and cam comes to mind. It would be awesome to have bearings on each end of the cam and it looks possible. The big factor would be if there is enough room in the head and valve cover. That would be a definite upgrade. You really have nothing to lose other than head that most people would just throw away. True three wheeler guys don't throw anything away. They may need it later.

I'm pretty sure mega cycle makes a needle bearing cam for an instance such as this

First thing i noticed after the rust was that the crank had turned blue. Is this the one you posted up a while back that you were contemplating? Definitely a lot of work going into this one:beer

This brings back memories of when I took my X's engine apart. Although, mine didn't have any standing water in the stator cover (was still rusted), and the valve train looked new. So new that I highly doubt it had very many hours on it before being in a fire. Unfortunately, the piston was nearly at BTC with the valves open. Had stuck valves and the thickness of rust in the cylinder was pretty amazing. Talk about stalactites! You'll get this back together, and it'll be great!
